Welcome to At The Start!
Every journey has a start. It’s often met with a mix of excitement and fear. Sometimes it is overwhelming and may even interfere with taking action.
I started At The Start to help people move through these transitions, identify a starting point, and take action. I am an independent coach, human resources executive and mother of four children spanning ages 18 to five.
The idea for At The Start came to me in 2015 when my oldest daughter was starting high school. At the time, she was in a middle school mindset with an awareness that high school would change everything. She and her friends would joke with each other that they needed to ‘learn life’ every time they demonstrated their lack of knowledge, awareness or understanding. As I was ushering her out the door for one of her first days of high school, I said “This is it. We have four years to get you ready for life on your own. We need to get you on a learn life plan.”
And so it began.
Life’s Transitions
Navigating through the transitions from teen to adult is particularly challenging for both teens and their parents. As a partner to both, I developed a coaching approach to help teens discover opportunities, to develop both practical life skills and the critical soft skills for success, and to connect with their individual and family values.
As a result, that shift from family living to independent living can come with more ease, confidence and excitement.
Small Steps
Coaching is a partnership designed to bring awareness and action to an individual’s dreams, values and opportunities. In weekly or bi-monthly sessions of 45 minutes, I help others discover their paths and plan the small steps to get started.
